Kibogora, Rwanda. We arrived last week on Thursday evening. It was dusk when we rolled in around 6pm. What a wonderful welcome we had - old friends, hugs, laughter, new friends... it feels like another home here.
Our journey was uneventful, for the most part. We did have one delay out of Grand Rapids last Tuesday afternoon - God sent freezing rain! So we arrived in Detroit at about 6:10 when our next flight was supposed to fly at 6:05. We had given up catching that flight & were planning to get on the next flight to Amsterdam late that evening. But... when we stepped off the Grand Rapids plane, there was a man at the gate in Detroit calling out for the "Green family! Green family!" He frantically told us to run to gate 60 because they were holding the plane for us! We ran along those moving sidewalks & right up to gate 60 where they told us to just keep running right onto the plane. Never checked our passports! That began our first 8 hour flight. The kids were awesome!
Here are a few snapshots of our life this week... I'll catch up more tomorrow.... or the next day... still trying to get on top of my energy level.
We are so thankful for the many prayers you all have prayed on our behalf. God has blessed us with a sweet re-entry to Africa.
School in the mornings - on our back porch at the picnic table.
Levi practicing crocheting.... He says he's going to make a really long scarf... for all those chilly Rwanda days?? Ok.... at least it keeps him busy!
Anna learned to knit today! I confess..... I had to really reach back in my brain to remember how.... we actually youtubed how to cast on! She loves it!
Petting Brandon's goat, Wednesday.
Lauren & Deste passing an afternoon singing & stringing beads.
Our dear Josiane - we had a day with her before she had to leave for her nursing clinicals in another town. She will be back for a little while in April.
The big event!!!!! Watching Lilly have her kittens... Lilly was our sweet little tiny kitten from last year.... guess she got married!
Anna lost her tooth this week!! Josiane says the Rwandans throw the tooth over the roof & hope that a white bird will catch it & give you good luck. We opted for the tooth fairy.
How delightful! I want to be there...with those precious kids...sharing their experiences! Love you all so much!
