Daily Happenings

Dr. Joel & Dr. Ronald hard at work in the OR
(Operating Room)
It's hot & sticky, no windows, no air conditioning, scrubs covered by a gown with tight gloves, a hat & face mask.  Joel can almost wring out his t-shirt at the end of a case.
I would totally pass out!

Joel with 2 visiting surgeons from Germany.
Gunther & Philip are giving their time here for 2 weeks.  Great guys!

This is our main entrance.  There is a newly painted sign indicating that we are now a guesthouse as well as a mission.  The guesthouse helps to pay the bills when there aren't enough missionaries to fill the houses.
Honeymoon anyone???

Here is our school/toy room - though we have our lessons outside on the picnic table.  I brought a couple desks down from the schoolhouse to put in our front room.  It works out nicely.  Almost one week of school under our belt!  Kids are doing great!  I think I kind of like teaching....

Thank you Heather for the super fun wipe off strips for sight words!!!!

Math is better outside!

Learning cursive is better when Chess is close by!

Snapshots of life here...

Hi Friends!!!!  Here's another little glimpse into our life at Kibogora!

Levi & Anna have started their own little business!  They are getting to be quite the cooks around here!

And then there was the day they moved the piano....... It took 6 men.  We served them Kool-Aid and cookies afterwards!

We attended our first Rwandan wedding!
It was about 6 hours long.... sitting.  What a day!

Meet Rachel... you might remember her from last year!  She lived with us 3 months last year & visited for a couple weeks this year.  We all cried when she left :(  She's amazing!!!!

A fun crowd who enjoyed watching us take some pictures after the wedding ceremony while we all waited together for the reception to begin.

Some lovely toilet paper wedding decorations.

Even a live band!!!

We gasped several times watching this cake balance it's way through the 5 hour reception.

And here is a pic of the wedding food!  It's really good.  Even Anna gobbles this food up!!!  Traditional Rwandan food.  Three different ways of cooking bananas, a few kinds of potatoes, some rice & veggies, and some mystery meat... This was fried fish.

Here's Levi going through the dinner line and our friend Julianne.  Isn't she so pretty?!

Rachel showing off her piano talent on the piano that has newly been brought down the hill to our house.  And Meet Emmanual, our friend who is about to become a nurse.

Of course "home" wouldn't be complete without Levi playing with fire at least once a day!
