| We took a class field trip to Gisukuru, near the forest. Rick is a forest guide, a self-taught hydro-electrical engineer, a farmer, a health care advocate, a nursery school teacher and so many other things. He is one of the most energetic, ambitious people I've ever met. He invited us to come visit his home and the nursery school he teaches at. We learned all about how eucalyptus trees heat the fires to dry the tea leaves, how to care for animals, the history of the area and much, much more. He gave the kids 2 bunnies that he had raised and his lovely wife, Louise, made the kids some Rwandan crafts out of banana leaves. It was a fun day! |
